Entertaining the community since 2000

We are a Scarborough based group of like-minded brass players who share a love of playing music to the best of our ability, whilst having a bit of fun!

In the year 2000 four people with a passion for playing brass instruments decided to get together and have some fun making music to the best of their ability. All were keen musicians but some had not played for a while, so relished the idea of getting involved with other like-minded players. These four met in a cold and draughty builder's yard and started to make some wonderful music - so Simply Brass came to life. Today the group boasts around 20 players of all abilities and from all walks of life. They have also managed to find somewhere a little warmer to rehearse at Queen Street Methodist Church in Scarborough.
The players all live in Scarborough and it's surrounding area, and come from varied musical backgrounds - a number have played in top Brass Bands throughout the country, a couple have music degrees and others have played for years for the sheer enjoyment of it. The group range in age from early 20's to 70 something and includes teachers, lawyers, a policeman, mothers and a few retired ones!
Simply Brass have an extensive repertoire of music ranging from classical and standard Brass Band favourites, to music from films, to popular music and finally a bit of swing thrown in to round off a varied and exciting programme.
Simply Brass enjoy entertaining the public and have appeared at various village shows, fund-raising events for St Catherine's Hospice, Weddings, Sunday afternoon Concerts at Peasholm Park and Filey Bandstand, Last Night at the Proms, and Carol Services around the region.

We rehearse every Monday evening at Emmanuel St Johns Church, St Johns Road, Scarborough from 7.45pm to 9.45pm.
New players and guests are most welcome to come and join the band at one of their weekly rehearsals. We are really needing a percussionist and some back row cornets at the moment! Why not come along and have a practice with us and meet some really nice and friendly people. Also enjoy one of Jack's cuppa's in the break, you may even get a biscuit!
