James Ewan Tait is a weirdo crooner from North Yorkshire who lives and works in Sheffield.
Although an “enigmatic old hand on the Sheffield indie circuit,” Tait recently recorded his debut EP, Everything, Loads, All the Time, Forever, with Sheffield-based producer Brett Womersley. Tait and Womersley took an experimental approach to arranging and recording the EP, and incorporated a number of session musicians. A successful crowd funding campaign raised double the target, and funded the pressing and release of the EP on Pigeon Hands, the label set up by Tait and Womersley. A sold-out launch show at The Lamplight Club in Sheffield celebrated the release in September ’17, at which Tait performed with a five-piece band, and the EP received a highly favourable review in Now Then Magazine the following month.
In October 2017 Tait filmed and recorded a performance of his song ‘Lime Grove’, demonstrating the three-amp set up currently utilized in his solo live performances. The video is going to be premiered by music blog For The Rabbits on January 18th 2018.
Tait and Womersley are currently arranging and recording music for the follow up EP, with a selection of session musicians, and are beginning preparations to release other artist’s music on their Pigeon Hands imprint.
Tait plans to tour extensively in 2018, around the UK and Europe.
