About Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds

One of the most trailblazing arena tours of all time, Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds returns to UK arenas in 2022 with The Life Begins Again Tour.

Based on HG Wells’ dark Victorian tale, the production remains a favourite to millions around the world, exciting audiences of all ages.

In 2006, TWOTW was already considered a cutting-edge production with six trucks filled to the brim. By 2022, which marks 16 years of live touring, the production will be up to 12 trucks, with a host of ingredients and special effects to challenge and excite the senses.

The stellar cast includes Steps star Claire Richards making her debut as Beth, The Parson’s Wife. In addition to a slew of top five singles, three multi-platinum albums and her hit solo album My Wildest Dreams under her belt, Richards has appeared on TV shows like Loose Women, The One Show, Celebrity Big Brother and Popstar To Operastar.

Joining her is former Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer and West End star Kevin Clifton as The Artilleryman. Having thrilled theatre goers across the UK in productions of Rock Of Ages, Dirty Dancing The Musical and The Wedding Singer, he’s thrilled to be returning to the stage in 2022 for this exciting role.

Audiences can also expect to see Liam Neeson in 3D holography as journalist George Herbert and the 35-foot-tall Martian Fighting Machine firing real flame Heat Rays, along with the nine-piece Black Smoke Band and ULLAdubULLA symphonic string orchestra.

Some of the new updates and additions include a giant arched bridge running from the lip of the stage out over the audience to the front of house desk, three panoramic screens with two hours of cutting-edge CGI and the incineration of a cast member in full view of the audience.

There will also be surround sound, lighting, pyrotechnics and otherworldly special effects – plus a ground-breaking levitation effect, the release of deadly black smoke from the Martian Fighting Machine and The War Of The Worlds’ author himself, HG Wells, appearing in sight and sound.
