We are a relaxed, friendly, welcoming group and are always looking for more members to join our Jazz family!
If playing as part of a group appeals to you, why not join John Seeley’s Jazz and Saxophone Group? I run my own Jazz and Saxophone Workshop every Thursday evening throughout the year at St. Michael and All Angels Church in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
The aim of this workshop is to provide a creative and relaxed atmosphere for musicians of all levels, to learn theory aspects of music, develop saxophone technique and gain practical knowledge of performing.
The workshop will explore saxophone and musicianship skills that will enhance the individual and group performer. This includes music theory, methods of practise, sight reading, improvisation, aural work and specific concepts to increase your knowledge on the saxophone.
The music used will range from Hard Bop, Modern to Contemporary Jazz, and will be arranged to a high level.
Colchester Castle Park is very lucky to contain a Victorian bandstand. This is used through the summer by traditional silver bands and some more contemporary artists playing more modern music.
There is nothing better on a sunny afternoon than packing a picnic, laying down a rug on the grass that surrounds the bandstand and then enjoying you picnic while relaxing listening to the music.
You don't even need to take your own picnic as the bandstand is located in the upper castle park close to the Café in the Park. This means you can go and get some take-away teas or coffees together with an ice cream and, if you are lucky, find an empty bench close to the bandstand. Another option is to use one of the tables laid out by the café for their take-away customers.
