Live Performance
Ska / Folk Punk
A madcap mix of funky ska and folk punk, blending bold brass and fiery strings for an electrifying, dance-floor-filling experience.
Expect originals and quirky covers, from Madness to Gogol Bordello, spanning hits from 1943 to (almost) the present. Upbeat, offbeat, and guaranteed to bring the heat.
Lost in Space are a high-energy 7-piece ska band and folk punk band, combining vibrant female vocals with a powerful mix of brass, folk instruments, percussion, electric guitar, bass, and drums. As a go-to party band and wedding band, they’ve been igniting dance floors across Cornwall and Devon for years with their wild, unpredictable, and electrifying mix of upbeat and offbeat tunes!
Their repertoire is a genre-blending collection of ska, funk, folk-punk, disco, pop, and country, with a twist—many songs are inventive reimagining’s of well-known tracks, while others are original creations featuring quirky themes like alien invasion, werewolf weddings, and premature burials.
With several multi-instrumentalists in the band, the band can seamlessly shift from a big ska band vibe with sax, trumpet, and trombone, to a more intimate folk sound with fiddle, accordion, clarinet, and even the occasional mandolin or flute. It’s a fun, genre-defying experience every time.
The band doesn’t aim to fit into any marketing box; they do it for the fun, the diverse music, and the interesting people it brings together. You won’t find them listed as a ‘70s tribute band’ or ‘80s disco act.’ What you will find is them delivering an electrifying set of vibrant, upbeat tunes that get everyone on their feet, creating an unforgettable party atmosphere and a night to remember.
Dating back to the early 18th century, The Ship Inn is a splendid old building that, as well as being found in the main road through the village, also lies close to the sandy beaches of St Austell Bay.
Owned and personally run by local publicans, Chris and Linda, this large establishment has plenty to offer both locals and visitors alike.
The interior of this charming old inn is as full of character as its age would suggest and, along with the original ceiling beams, many other features have withstood the test of time.
From the inviting bar visitors can enjoy a variety of quality ales (we are in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide), with many beers from local breweries, as well as draught lager, cider and spirits.
Outside too there is much for the inn's customers: to the side and rear are well maintained gardens where there is there a bandstand, and also a play area for children.
