The band was formed in 1870 & has been based in the current bandroom, in the grounds of Cockerton Band & Musical Institute (a CIU club), since the 1920s. The bandroom was originally the coach house of the house that stood on the Club site.

The band takes part in a number of competitions & concerts during the year. Please see our Engagements page for our current list of jobs.

The band is proud to lead Darlington’s annual Remembrance Parade.

The bulk of the band’s fundraising is done through December with many caroling jobs entertaining Christmas shoppers. Please give generously!
