Description

Formed in 1895, Fulham Brass Band has a long history of music making and strong links with the community.

We play an exciting mix of events from high profile TV gigs to community engagements to traditional brass band contests.

We rehearse every Monday evening from 7.30pm to 10.00pm in St Etheldreda’s Church close to Putney Bridge Station. As with most brass bands, we play a variety of music each week — some music will be used as a one-off to improve sight-reading, others will be played regularly in preparation for upcoming concerts, recordings or contests.

Salvation Army - Regent Hall Profile Pic

Description

Regent Hall, a venerable presence on Oxford Street since 1882, stands as a significant community asset and a distinctive event hub in central London. Originally a roller-skating rink, it was acquired by William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army, and has since served as a Christian centre and a vital point of connection for countless individuals. Its Welcome Hub and FIKA coffee shop offer a quiet respite from the bustling thoroughfare, embodying its enduring commitment to public service.

Within its walls, the main auditorium, capable of seating around 550, offers a space where the resonant acoustics carry both musical performances and spoken word with clarity. The air often carries the faint, comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee from the adjacent FIKA cafe, a subtle counterpoint to the building's historic gravitas. This blend of the contemporary and the traditional defines its unique atmosphere.

Beyond its primary function, Regent Hall provides comprehensive facilities for hire, including its main hall and various meeting rooms. The FIKA coffee shop, staffed in partnership with a training academy, serves refreshments throughout the week, contributing to its mission of supporting individuals back into employment.

The venue regularly hosts a diverse calendar of events, from acclaimed musical performances, including its renowned brass band and choral ensembles, to a variety of community gatherings and public concerts. These activities, alongside its weekly worship services, underscore its role as a dynamic cultural and social anchor in the heart of the city.
