Brass Band
Providing entertainment to Watford and the surrounding areas for over 125 years the Watford Band is a relaxed, traditional brass band.
The band can provide music suitable for many occasions from bandstands, carols and garden parties to concerts, services and evening music.
Lowndes Park, is located off St. Mary’s Way (HP5 1HU) and is a major historic feature of Chesham that was largely donated to the town in 1953 by the Lowndes family. Today, the park spans 36 acres and is managed by the Council.
The lower park provides children’s play areas (including a brand new play area in 2025 for the 5-11 age range), a multi-sports court, a skateboard park installed in 2014, the historic avenue (also a cycle route), public toilets and Skottowes pond.
A series of free, open air concerts are staged in the bandstand area during July and August each year. The park is also the site of many town events, including charity fun runs and the annual Schools of Chesham Carnival.
The upper park provides fantastic views across the town, excellent walking and its less formal management has created habitats for local wildlife. There is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument of mysterious origins known locally as the Rolling Pin.
