Description

A prize winning community band. The BM&W Brass Band plays in venues around Wirksworth and Matlock. The band meets on a Wednesday evening at the Parish Rooms in Wirksworth.

The BM&W Brass Band was formed in 1964 from three local bands; Brassington Silver Prize Band, Middleton Victoria Silver Band and Wirksworth Silver Prize Band. The bands were short of players and the late Mr I Spencer and others decided to amalgamate the three bands to ensure a successful future.

The BM&W Brass Band welcomes new players and is available to hire for local events. They are also developing a small ensemble band available for hire for weddings and private functions.

The Main Band, conducted by Sarah Fellowes, meets at 8pm in the Parish Rooms next to St Marys church on St Marys Gate in Wirksworth.
Tea and biscuits are served at 7.45pm and the subs are two pounds a week.
Brass players are always welcome to join the band.
