Constellation Big Band was formed circa 1973 and was originally known as ‘Joe Berni Dance Band Neath’ The band originally consisted of musicians who played in bands during the 1939-45 war years and post-war years, who came together to once again enjoy the pleasures of playing music that they loved.



Over the years, the Band have toured Germany and played at various prestigious venues, and have appeared on S4C’s ‘Heno’ TV programme.



Several personnel have been associated with this fine Band over the years and we are very proud that a number of fine musicians remain amongst our ranks almost half a century since our inception!



The band recreates the sounds of the Big Band era with music from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton and many more. We also pride ourselves in having a vast array of music to accommodate all genres of musical taste and style



We have two talented and versatile vocalists Jheena Lodwick and Chris Richards, both of whom have been associated with the Band since 2016.

Description

Opened in 1900, Carmarthen Park boasts Wales's first velodrome (cycle track) and one of the few early velodromes to survive in working condition. Complete with its original grandstand, bandstand, lodge, entrance gates and railings, Carmarthen Park has been used for a wide range of sports, eisteddfodau, entertainments, circuses and concerts.

‘The Tea Shop’ at Carmarthen Park is now open daily from 10.30 am serving tea, coffee, cold drinks, ice cream and light snacks. With outside and inside seating for 25 it is an ideal place for those wishing to take a break while using the facilities of the Park or to meet with friends for a relaxing tea and cake.

The bandstand is well used with regular performances on both Saturdays and Sundays during the summer.
