Description

Rutland Concert Band was formed in May of 2008. It is a community wind band whose main purpose is to provide local musicians of all ages and abilities with the opportunity to play in a band.

The band has grown steadily since its formation and we currently have nearly 50 players.

Current players range from primary school age to retirees, from relative beginners to accomplished musicians.

The beauty is that everyone helps and learns from each other. The main aims for the band are to have fun playing and to enjoy socialising as a musician.

We rehearse every Tuesday evening in the Music Department at Oakham School between 7:30 and 9:00. We are grateful for the support we have received from Oakham School and Rutland County Council.

Description

Play Close is the back garden of St Mary’s Church and hosts some of the town’s premier events throughout the year, including the Melton Country Fair, the annual hunt meet on New Year’s Day, fairs, circus' and other seasonal events. Play Close has a Children's Play Area and specialised play equipment suitable for a wheel chair or push chair.

The bandstand is grade II Listed.
