Live Performance
Americana
British-Americana band: Our original songs are inspired by the music that has crossed and crisscrossed the Atlantic over the decades in true folk fashion.
A Different Thread’s original songs are inspired by the music that has crossed and crisscrossed the Atlantic Ocean over the generations in true folk fashion, from the rolling hills of Staffordshire to the Appalachian Mountains. Robert Jackson from Lichfield, England and Alicia Best from North Carolina, USA weave together elements of country, Piedmont blues, and bluegrass with traditional English folk, taking additional inspiration from the folk revival movement of the 70's.
Jackson's mournful harmonica, stirring guitar, and distinctive voiceblend with Best's tight harmonies, impulsive fiddle licks, and the drivingbeat of her suitcase drum kit to create what they call 'British-Americana'.Since they formed two years ago, they have been touring, recording, and collaborating with different musicians throughout the UK, USA,Ireland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Guatemala. They are currently recording their first full-length album in NorthCarolina before touring the UK this summer with cellist Maya McCourt.
Inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash + June Carter, Doc Watson, Joni Mitchell and Bert Jansch, as well as more contemporary artists such as Willy Mason, Gillian Welch, The Cranberries, Fleet Foxes and Rhiannon Giddens + the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

The Maverick Festival is set amongst the restored Victorian barns and out-buildings of Easton Farm Park, nestled deep in the Suffolk countryside yet only two hours from London, with films, workshops and performances from over fifty different artists across six stages, indoors and out.
The music begins on Friday at 5pm and runs until around 11.30pm. Saturday’s programme starts at 11am and finishes around 11.30pm. Sunday is altogether more relaxed beginning around 10.30am and running until approximately 2.30pm.
Camping at Maverick is relaxed. The campsite is set in a beautiful meadow with plenty of space to spread out. You can camp with friends or maybe you’d prefer a peaceful spot, it’s up to you. There’s even a special area for camper vans, caravans and motor-homes. We like to keep the campsite free of cars, which must be parked in a nearby field. If you need help transporting your stuff on the short trip to the camping area, volunteers will be on hand. A Ranger ticket will get you two nights camping (Friday and Saturday).
