One of the UK’s greatest interpreters of song, award-winning vocalist Clare Teal (BBC Radio 2) – along with her excellent musicians – effortlessly traverses a rich landscape of timeless material.
From grand masters of the Great American Song Book (Cole Porter and Rodgers & Hart) to the witty and urbane stylists of the 50s and 60s (Cy Coleman, Carolyn Leigh and Dave Brubeck), with a nod to contemporary writers and originals too.
The ensemble, packed with fantastic top flight jazz players, demonstrates the thrill and power of the big band age and gives a great backdrop for Clare to perform her eclectic songbook of intimate ballads, roaring blues, sophisticated swing and fiery Latin tunes.
With arrangements by world renowned trumpeter/composer Guy Barker and jazz pianist extraordinaire Jason Rebello, songs include Cry Me a River, What Is This Thing Called Love, It Don’t Mean a Thing if It Ain’t Got That Swing and There’ll Be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight.
The Bowdon Rooms is located in one of the most desirable parts of Cheshire. The award-winning Wedding Venue, Conference Centre and Premier Events Hub is one of Altrinchams’ most prestigious buildings. Dating back to 1903, this local jewel is a charming example of stunning Edwardian architecture.
