One of the UK's most accessible soul-funk-jazz artists, James Brown Is Annie met in a piano bar, rehearse next to a sex shop, and take their name from an Eddie Murphy Saturday Night Live sketch.
Supported by National Arts body, Creative Scotland, the group's two albums (JBiA I and JBiA II) were produced by original Average White Band members Molly Duncan (2015) and Hamish Stuart (2018). Regulars on national television and radio, JBiA's second single, Get Up To Get Down, was a BBC Radio Scotland 'Single Of The Week' in April 2016. The only band to have headlined two different stages at the famous Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party (Waverley Stage 2012, Mound Stage 2017), playing to over 80,000 people, the Scottish outfit have shared stages with some of music's top recording artists (Average White Band, The Family Stone, Kaiser Chiefs, Electric Six, etc.) at some of the country's most prestigious venues, selling out many along the way.
On Friday & Saturday nights, Clarks buzzes with a vibrant party atmosphere and live music from the area's best pop & rock cover bands followed by our resident DJ until 2:15 am.
It's the perfect venue for an informal party with areas to reserve for celebrations and gatherings of all sorts & sizes, from hen nights to birthdays to retirements to reunions. If you want the place to yourself, Clarks can also be hired for private functions and events.
Away from Friday and Saturday, the renowned Sunday Song Club is an intimate and lively acoustic night with a blend of invited guests and open mic - a great way to wind down the weekend. Midweek, Clarks also plays host to an eclectic range of gigs from established and emerging artists both touring and local.
The drinks range reflects modern trends with cocktails, gins & craft beers to the fore while the kitchen serves great value pub food with an emphasis on chef's own recipes.

Scotland's premier soul-funk outfit, James Brown Is Annie, team up with Average White Band legend, Hamish Stuart, for a special evening's live music at Clark's in Dundee on Thursday 13 September.
Celebrating the launch of their new Creative Scotland-funded album (JBiA II) - which Stuart both produced and played on - fans of soul, funk, and r'n'b can expect to hear a full set of new material, plus tunes by Steely Dan, James Brown and Bill Withers, from the Capital-based sextet.
Stuart will join up with the band in the second set where audiences can expect to get to hear songs by AWB, plus classic tunes from Hamish's very own funky stable.
