We are Contraband - a long established 5 piece covers band working throughout Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex and London. We have a varied set list consisting of pop and rock songs from a range of artists from different genres from Janis Joplin to Lily Allen and Bruno Mars to The Killers and Fleetwood Mac. Our set is so varied that there's always something for everybody!

The current line up of Contraband really is our very best to date and our popularity continues to grow. The line up consists of female singer, guitars, keyboards, bass and drums. We are also accompanied by our sound engineer at every event.

Contraband goes back over 30 years and we play at many types of gigs from pubs and clubs to private functions such as weddings and birthday parties.

For private events we are always open to suggestions to learn special songs. Any hire includes us supplying our professional PA system with your choice of music played through it during intervals. We also have our own lighting. All equipment is of a very high standard and for this we must thank Sennheiser, Fender, Mesa Boogie, Markbass, Gb Guitars, Sonor drums, Roland, Shure, Allen & Heath and Mackie to name but a few.

In addition to an extensive internal and external redecoration of the pub, work will include expanding the roof terrace and altering the floor layout to create more space for customers. We will also be installing a new kitchen in order to provide a delicious fresh food menu, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

The drinks menu will be expanded, serving an eclectic range of beers, craft spirits and cocktails alongside fresh coffee.

The pub dates back to the 1800s, and we will be commemorating this fresh start by reinstating its original name the Market House. We will be retaining the pub’s emphasis on live music, however, and look forward to welcoming great talent from the local area.
