Live Performance
Jigtastic folk from Bangra to Bluegrass
Foot-stomping, jig-tastic future folk from Cardiff, playing an eclectic mix of Bluegrass to Bhangra, Irish to Arabic…and everything in between…
After forming in 2012, The Brwmys have been spreading their music around like jam on toast. Influences are predominantly folk, rock and blues, but these are combined with flavours of Asia, South America, and the middle-east to give the band an unusual and unique sound. Songs can be simple or complex, gentle or manic with no barriers to constrain experimentation.
Be prepared to swig your cider, dance your socks off, and find out what the Brwmys actually means…

The Globe at Hay is an independent arts centre, embracing an ever changing arts landscape.
In 2008, Hilary Lawson, an already long standing resident of Hay-on-Wye, saw that the Methodist Chapel at the end of town was up for sale. Thinking that this uniquely creative town would benefit hugely from access to a gamut of arts and events, the globe was founded.
Believing firmly in the ‘Town of Books’, and its community, the globe pledges to invest in making a space where all can come together to share in culture and expression. We want to ensure that being based rurally is no barrier to exceptional events. In our programme you will find films, live music, talks & debates, workshops, art exhibitions, courses and schools’ opportunities. We believe that in a small community like Hay-on-Wye, an arts centre has a duty to work with its audience and listen to feedback so that the programme is always diverse and relevant.
Year round we showcase talent found on our doorstep and we are proud that we have a local audience drawn from the town, as well as people that travel from further afield. Over 10 days in May, when the world turns its attention to Hay-on-Wye for the festivals, the globe at hay is the home to the internationally renowned music and philosophy festival, HowTheLightGetsIn.
We have an education programme that focuses on creating work that encourages students and teachers alike to explore big topics through creative and experiential workshops. The globe is particularly committed to ensuring that our work has an impact on hard-to-reach young people, and this means that we are always exploring new funding streams to carry on this work.
At the globe you will find our cosy and welcoming cafe, run in collaboration with our Globe Kitchen. We celebrate food that is sourced and cooked sustainably, allowing our menus to evolve with the seasons. Not only do we support the local rural economy, we are certain you will find our menu utterly delicious!
The globe at hay exists to ensure that audiences from both near and far can find exemplary arts and events, in this unique and rural location. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
