Live Performance
Brass Band
Bocking Concert Brass is a popular community band based in Braintree, Essex.
A traditional brass band lineup of instruments is used to perform in a range of styles.
Entertainment always comes first - this is not a competition band.
A busy season of outdoor concerts starts on Mayday and continues throughout the summer. The band performs its wide repertoire of light music at school and village fêtes, carnivals, concerts, and other public and private events.
In the winter season, most concerts are indoors, allowing the band to feature more lyrical music and, of course, Christmas songs and carols.
BOCKING CONCERT BRASS has vacancies for brass players of all abilities. No experience is necessary, but an ability to read music is an advantage.
Cornet players are especially needed.
Band instruments are available on loan.
The Band meets in the Old Schoolroom at Manor Street Museum, Braintree.
Beginners and improvers - Mondays 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm
Experienced Players - Main Band - Wednesdays 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm
Dating back to the 14th century, our beautiful church is a testament to the strong history of worship in the area, with Roman tiles incorporated in the brickwork, Victorian stained glass windows, Medieval graffiti and a monument to Sir John Hawkwood, a 14th century soldier who was born in Sible Hedingham.
Surrounded by open space and green fields, St Peter’s is wonderfully situated on a hill in an older part of the village and a short walk from the centre of the village.
As well as our regular services, St Peter’s often hosts a variety of functions throughout the year which draws the community together.
