Brass Band

Description

Historically, there was a Canterbury Silver Band which was disbanded in the War years. The present Brass Band was formed in 1969 and some of the original members still play with the band now.

The members of the band come from all walks of life and are of a great range in ages. Many of the players travel great distances to rehearsals.

The band prides itself in being a most welcoming, friendly and dedicated organisation that provides entertaining music for its listeners.

The players enjoy performing on a very regular basis in the South East. The band has wound thirty engagements this year, which include formal concerts, playing at bandstands, performing at fetes, providing music for church services and supporting local charities.

The band has also recently produced a CD joint with a local choir and is presently looking into producing another recording of its own music.

If you are interested in playing with a brass band, why not go along to one of the band's rehearsals? At present the Band has its bandroom just outside Canterbury, at Chartham Hatch village hall and rehearsals we held every Friday evening between 8.00 pm and 10.00 pm. Any player, of any standard, will immediately be made to feel most welcome.

Chartham Hatch Village Hall Profile Pic

Description

Located in the centre of the village, Chartham Hatch Village Hall provides a focal point for the social activities of ‘The Hatch’ and the surrounding communities.

The Chartham Hatch Village Hall Society is a group of villagers that meet each month to administer and maintain the hall.

To raise funds the Society also runs a number of events throughout the year such as The 100 Club, Wine & Wisdom, Barbecue, Craft Fayre etc. Details appear on the notice board at the hall or in the occasional Chartham Hatch Village Hall Society Newsletter. The hall is available to hire at very competitive rates.

The hall was previously the Village School and a book entitled “Chartham Hatch – From Village School to Village Hall” has been recently published with the history and memories of both the school and hall. This A4 book, which has 156 pages and over 250 photographs, also includes sections on the history of Chartham Hatch, the Hall Bell Tower and the former Social Club.

There is a main hall which can accommodate up to 140 people, with professional and robust Amtico flooring. There is a choice of either round or rectangular tables for seated events. There is a kitchen adjoining the main hall which is very well equipped and contains sufficient china, cutlery and glassware for 140 place settings.
There is a smaller hall which is still spacious and versatile, with carpets and a kitchenette area. This is ideal for meetings and gatherings of up to 50 people.
In addition there is a lounge area and a separate IT room which can be hired separately.
