Victoria Park is one of the most prestigious parks in the Borough of Erewash. Erewash Borough Council, together with its partners, recognises its importance and value to the local and wider community. It has recently undergone a programme of improvements to make it an even more welcoming place to visit and we are committed to continuously improving the services and facilities offered at the site.
As well as the Bandstand, the park offers a Bowling Green, children's play area, coffee shop,
Essential to the future of the park is encouraging the engagement of the local community so that they take ownership of the site and become more proactive in its management. In 2010 a Friends Group was established and there is an optimism and enthusiasm for the future of the park that looks to go from strength to strength. Local residents are fiercely proud of the park and are committed to seeking ways of addressing the balance between the different needs of the younger and older generations who use the facilities at the site.
Victoria Park was adopted by a local secondary school in 2007. Erewash Borough Council’s ‘Adopt-a-Park’ scheme aims to encourage young people to develop a caring attitude towards the environment and stimulate an interest in nature and wildlife. Participation in the scheme will help those working towards an ‘Eco-Schools’ award and also support them in their Citizenship studies, which is now part of the National Curriculum.
In July 2015 Victoria Park won the prestigious Green Flag award for the fourth year running.
