Brass Band
Chedworth Silver Band is a traditional Brass Band, founded in 1905 in the village of Chedworth, Gloucestershire. Numbers have fluctuated over the years, but we currently have around 25 members.
We support ourselves by playing at local fetes, concerts and other events. Our repertoire includes classical arrangements, compositions for brass band by "giants" such as William Rimmer, and Derek Broadbent, musicals, marches and arrangements of recent popular songs. We are not contest band and do not take part in competitions.
The Abbey Grounds can be found behind the Church and The Market Place.
The grounds contain the site of St Mary's Abbey which was consecrated in 1176 in the presence of Henry II.
It remained until the Dissolution in 1539 when the Abbey was completely demolished. Today, the site of the Abbey is outlined with paving stones.
