Velvet & Stone’s female-fronted, indie-folk combines haunting soundscapes with catchy pop hooks and great songs, offering a fresh and original take on a traditional genre.

Crafting their live set on the festival circuit with performances at Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and Larmer Tree Festival, among many others, they take their audience on a journey from stunning soundscapes to foot-stomping folk-rock.

Led by Lara Snowdon’s vocals and songwriting; Kathryn Tremlett’s violin; and supported by their regular band of Paddy Blight (double bass), Kev Jackson (guitar) and Garry Kroll (drums), their music draws upon personal stories, melancholy tales and rugged landscapes – creating a sound that is difficult to forget. The band weave traditional threads and combine them with folk-revival and contemporary flavours, producing a sound that has been likened to a twenty-first century Fairport Convention, and comparisons drawn with Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and Seth Lakeman.

Privately owned since the 1920’s, Lusty Glaze is a spectacular horseshoe shaped cove on the outskirts of Newquay. This beautiful, secluded beach is your home away from home by the sea.

Nestled in a secluded cove, just a short walk from the centre of Newquay and down the infamous 133 steps, the Bar & Restaurant at Lusty Glaze Beach is the perfect spot for lazy lunches, cosy coffees, and seaside suppers. As a privately owned beach, our unique setting can even be hired exclusively if you’d like to keep our incredible views all to yourself!

Whatever the weather, the view from your table is breath-taking. Sit on the terrace and soak up the sunshine with a cold drink in the summer, or on wild winter days, cosy up by one of two roaring log burners with one of our famous hot chocolates.

We can cater for all dietary requirements if you make us aware of them before visiting.

Well behaved dogs (and owners!) are welcome in our bar and restaurant all year round.

Adventurous activities for all ages and abilities, spectacular music events, exclusive corporate hosting, beautiful civil wedding ceremonies, luxury day packages and of course splendid beach dining are all part of our day throughout the year.

DOGGIE DINNERS: Every day from midday the restaurant is dedicated to our four legged friends – of course well behaved owners are welcome too! Each canine dinner will cost just £3, all of which will go towards a charity close to our hearts, the St Francis Home For Animals (www.stfrancisnewquay.org.uk). If you would like to contribute more then that is entirely up to you. So put the chews aside and enjoy a scrumptious feast exclusively prepared for our four and two legged friends.
