Open Day
Description
Chisenhale Dance Space stands as a vital cultural asset in East London, a member-led charitable organisation that has championed experimentation in dance and performance for over four decades. It serves as a crucial hub for independent and marginalised artists, fostering creative development and providing essential space for practitioners from Tower Hamlets and across the UK.
Within its former warehouse setting, overlooking the tranquil Hertford Union Canal, the studios exude an atmosphere of focused creativity. High ceilings and expansive windows allow natural light to flood the spaces, illuminating the warm maple wood floors and exposed brickwork of the Performance Studio. The subtle scent of polished wood and the gentle give of the sprung dance floors speak to years of dedicated movement and artistic endeavour.
The venue offers two versatile studios available for hire, complemented by a shared lounge area where artists and visitors can connect, enjoy a cup of tea, and utilise complimentary Wi-Fi. Practical considerations include a dedicated disabled parking bay immediately outside the premises, ensuring broader access for all patrons.
Throughout the year, Chisenhale Dance Space presents a varied programme, encompassing contemporary performances, skill-building workshops, and regular classes catering to diverse age groups and abilities. It is a recognised platform for dance festivals, live artistic showcases, and curated film screenings, alongside its core artist development and community engagement initiatives.
