Award-winning comedian Jo Caulfield hits the road with her first UK tour in five years.

The Galashiels Volunteer Hall, a distinguished civic building dating back to 1874, holds a prominent position on St John Street, directly opposite the historic Burgh Chambers. Originally conceived as a drill hall, it has evolved into a vital asset for the Scottish Borders, serving as a dynamic hub for both local and national events, fostering community engagement and cultural expression.
Stepping inside, the hall presents a robust, traditional aesthetic; the lower walls are clad in warm brown wood panelling, contrasting with the lighter upper sections and a white roof where beige trusses are visibly articulated. While the acoustics are generally considered reasonable for performances, a subtle, consistent hum from the fan convector heaters can occasionally be perceived.
The venue offers adaptable configurations, featuring retractable bleacher seating that can accommodate up to 256 guests, complemented by additional padded, stacking chairs for flexible layouts. While there is no external garden space, the hall is fully staffed and committed to providing accessible facilities. A dedicated bar area is available for event organisers, though the provision of bar service remains the responsibility of the hirer.
Throughout the calendar, the Volunteer Hall hosts a broad spectrum of activities, from live music concerts and theatrical productions to formal dinners, social dances, and engaging lectures by local history societies. It consistently facilitates both significant public performances and intimate community gatherings, underscoring its enduring role in the cultural fabric of Galashiels.
