Brighton Electric operates as a vital creative hub, deeply embedded within the city's music landscape. It serves as a comprehensive facility for artists, offering recording, rehearsal, and performance spaces that contribute significantly to the local and national music scene.
The building, a former tramways headquarters from 1897, retains much of its original character, with thick engineering brick walls and restored mosaic floors bearing the Brighton Corporation logo. The air often carries the faint scent of instrument cables and fresh coffee, while the low, warm lighting in the performance areas creates an intimate yet energetic atmosphere.
Beyond its studios, Brighton Electric features a licensed private bar, open late, and a heated outdoor area, providing a comfortable space for patrons. The venue is equipped to host events with a capacity of around 150 people.
The venue regularly hosts a diverse array of live events, from production rehearsals and private showcases to various music parties and spoken word evenings. It functions as a dynamic space for both established and emerging talent to present their work.
