Description

Manchester Opera House, a Grade II listed building on Quay Street, stands as a cornerstone of the city's cultural offering, a significant touring theatre that has shaped Manchester's entertainment landscape since its opening in 1912. It serves as a vital platform for national and international productions, contributing substantially to the region's artistic vibrancy and drawing audiences from across the North West.

Inside, the auditorium retains a classic elegance, with a preserved green and gold colour scheme that lends a sense of grandeur to the space. The two deep, cantilevered balconies curve gracefully, creating an intimate atmosphere despite the venue's considerable capacity, where the rich acoustics carry performances with clarity.

While the venue does not feature an outdoor garden, it offers multiple bars across its levels for pre-show and interval refreshments. Accessibility is carefully considered, with street-level access to the main foyer and designated wheelchair spaces in the Circle, alongside accessible toilet facilities. However, patrons should note the absence of a customer lift to all levels.

Throughout the year, the Opera House presents a diverse programme, encompassing large-scale touring musicals, classical ballet, contemporary concerts, and traditional pantomimes. It consistently delivers a broad spectrum of live performances, ensuring a dynamic and engaging schedule for theatregoers.
