Your favourite 90s band, providing earworms for decades, are back and
absolutely unstoppable. Their first tour in 20 years sparked a global 30th
Anniversary Tour in 2022, which spanned the US, Europe, and Canada,
celebrating *The Ghosts That Haunt Me*.
In 2023, the band celebrated 30 years since the release of their 3
times-Grammy nominated and platinum certified album “God Shuffled His Feet”.
“Touring again was not something we’d planned on, but surprisingly – at
least to me – there are lots of people who many years later, still want to
come and hear us. The folks that are coming out to see these shows tell us
their stories, some of them very funny, some very dark and all very
personal. It’s very humbling, being in the confidence of so many people”
says lead singer-songwriter Brad Roberts, “and it has inspired us to
continue to tour and make music.”
Description
Wylam Brewery, housed within Newcastle's historic Palace of Arts, serves as a significant cultural and social anchor for the region, having revitalised a landmark building into a dynamic centre for events and community gathering. It stands as a testament to adaptive reuse, preserving a piece of the city's industrial past while fostering contemporary experiences.
The interior presents a compelling blend of industrial heritage and refined design, with exposed brickwork and original parquet floors under a high, domed ceiling. The air often carries the subtle scent of brewing malt, mingling with the murmur of conversation and the occasional resonance of live sound checks. Cushioned seating in booth areas offers comfort, contrasting with the non-fixed wooden chairs throughout the expansive space.
Beyond the main hall, guests can enjoy views of Exhibition Park from an outdoor terrace, offering a tranquil counterpoint to the vibrant interior. The venue is largely accessible, with ramp access at the front and level internal pathways, though pre-arranged vehicular access through the park is necessary for mobility-impaired visitors. A diverse selection of drinks is available, from freshly brewed Wylam beers to a dedicated gin bar and crafted cocktails.
The Grand Hall regularly hosts a varied programme, encompassing live musical performances, culinary festivals, and private celebrations. These events draw diverse audiences, reinforcing the venue's standing as a prominent destination for cultural engagement and entertainment in the North East.
