Their ability to capture the essence of Joy Division both sonically and visually is quite uncanny. From ferocious Punk to poignantly epic soundscapes, the band faithfully simulate the live Joy Division experience, with a highly impressive degree of authenticity. It speaks volumes that the lead singer (born in the Manchester area) has performed songs with Peter Hook himself for Joy Division Orchestrated at such esteemed venues as Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and more.

TRUE ORDER are Europe’s only tribute to the iconic Manchester band New Order and are considered by many to be the next best thing to watching the real thing. Playing a career defining set the band play the songs from the early years after the demise of Joy Division. Expect to hear a career defining set often not performed by New Order themselves with ‘Ceremony’, ‘Procession’ & ‘Everything’s Gone Green’ ‘Temptation’ ‘Blue Monday’, ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’ ‘True Faith’ ‘Regret’ ‘Krafty’ ‘Your Silent Face’ ‘The Perfect Kiss’ to tracks from 2015’s Music Complete, such as ‘Restless’ and ‘Singularity’, they emulate the rich tapestry of synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines and guitars with the same uncompromising attitude that made New Order pioneers of modern music.

The Stage Door stands as a significant cultural anchor within Southampton's vibrant Cultural Quarter, serving as the city's sole dedicated fringe theatre, live music venue, and bar. It functions as a vital hub for artistic expression, championing both established and emerging talent, and actively contributes to the city's diverse cultural landscape, including its foundational role in Southampton Pride.

Inside, the atmosphere cultivates an intimate, engaging experience across its two levels. The air often carries the subtle scent of aged spirits from the well-appointed bars, while ambient lighting casts a warm, inviting glow, encouraging conversation and connection among patrons. This flexible space adapts readily, from seated cabaret arrangements to open floor plans for dynamic performances.

While the historic architecture presents some accessibility challenges, particularly with stairs, the venue is actively pursuing grants for improvements and offers assistance where possible, including wheelchair storage and accessible changing facilities on the ground floor. Two bars provide a comprehensive selection of cocktails, wines, and beers, with options for bespoke drinks packages for private events.

Throughout the year, The Stage Door hosts a broad spectrum of events, encompassing live music, engaging cabaret, burlesque, and regular comedy nights. Its programme also features theatrical productions, musicals, and performances tailored for younger audiences, reflecting its commitment to a wide array of artistic disciplines and community engagement.
