His sound is shaped by the distinctive styles of The Streets, Gorillaz, and Arctic Monkeys, combining introspective lyricism with sharp British identity and genre-defying energy.
Description
The Green Door Store stands as a vital cultural artery within Brighton, a grassroots live music venue deeply embedded beneath the city's railway arches. Recognised by the Music Venue Trust and nominated in the Music Week Awards' Grassroots Category, it serves as a crucial platform for nurturing local talent and showcasing emerging acts, solidifying its status as a significant asset to the national music landscape.
The interior retains a raw, industrial character, a testament to its past as a 19th-century horse hospital and railway storeroom. Smoke-blackened brickwork and elements of Victorian dereliction define the space, while the uneven cobbled flooring underfoot adds a distinct, tactile quality to the atmosphere. Despite its compact nature, the sound quality is remarkably crisp, allowing for an immersive auditory experience.
Practical considerations are well-addressed; the venue is fully wheelchair accessible, featuring ramps, wide doorways, an accessible toilet, and a lowered bar counter. A standard selection of beers, wines, and soft drinks are available at typical pub prices, and a large outdoor covered space offers a respite from the main performance area.
Throughout the year, the Green Door Store maintains a dynamic programme of events, encompassing a relentless variety of live music and club nights. It consistently champions emerging and alternative acts across genres such as rock, punk, and indie. Beyond regular programming, the venue hosts its own annual free music festival, "234 Fest," and plays a key role in larger city-wide events like The Great Escape Festival, alongside supporting diverse creative community gatherings from drag shows to art nights.
