One of the most unique and enjoyable live dub acts on the planet, Zion Train’s use of dynamic onstage dub mixing whilst performing alongside acoustic instruments and exceptional vocalists make this group one of a kind.
Zion Train were initially formed in Oxford as a sound system in 1988 by Neil Perch and Ben Hamilton. Colin Cod and Dave Tench joined in 1990 upon relocation to London. The original line-up was added to with vocalist Molara in 1992.
Their initial releases were the 7″ singles Power One and Power Two, which became hits on the dub scene in the early 1990s. In 1992 they released the groundbreaking Follow Like Wolves single, which fused dub and acid house styles and spawned their reputation as innovators.
In the 21st century the band have released a Jamaican Grammy winning album Live As One (Universal Egg 2007) , alongside several other albums and remix albums – the latest of which is the 2021 released Illuminate In Dub.
Zion Train have always prided themselves on working in autonomous, politically active environments alongside agitators and activists attempting to put the energy of their music to the best possible uses.

Brewery Arts Centre stands as a significant cultural anchor in Kendal, a thriving arts organisation with a legacy spanning over fifty years. It functions as a dynamic hub for the North West, consistently delivering an inspiring programme of events and creative learning opportunities.
Within its historic walls, the atmosphere is one of understated sophistication. The blend of original brewery brickwork with contemporary design elements creates an inviting environment, where the subtle scent of old stone and polished wood lingers. Performance spaces are designed to offer clear sightlines and a warm, detailed sound, ensuring an intimate connection between audience and artistry.
Beyond the main performance areas, the centre encompasses tranquil gardens, two modern cinemas, a digital lounge, and a well-appointed bar and restaurant. Accessibility is a considered aspect, with facilities such as wheelchair spaces and induction loops available in its cinema screens. The bar and restaurant provide a relaxed setting for coffee, drinks, and meals, extending the visitor experience beyond scheduled events.
The programming here is broad, encompassing theatre, live music, comedy, film screenings, and exhibitions. It also hosts a range of lectures, dance performances, and creative learning courses for all ages. The centre is also a recognised venue for major festivals, contributing to the region's cultural calendar.
