Alexandra Palace Profile Pic

Description

Alexandra Palace, affectionately known as "Ally Pally," stands as a significant cultural and entertainment landmark in North London, serving as "the People's Palace" since its inception. Owned by a charitable trust, its commercial activities directly fund the maintenance and restoration of the building and its expansive parkland, ensuring its enduring legacy as a public asset.

Within its historic walls, the atmosphere shifts with each event, from the hushed anticipation before a theatrical performance in the restored Victorian theatre to the vibrant energy of a large-scale concert in the Great Hall. The air often carries the faint scent of aged stone and polished wood, a subtle reminder of its rich past, while natural light streams through grand windows, illuminating intricate architectural details.

Surrounded by 196 acres of parkland, offering panoramic views across London, the venue provides ample outdoor space for visitors. Accessibility is a key consideration, with dedicated entrances, viewing platforms, and accessible parking available for events. Multiple bars and cafes are situated throughout the palace and park, offering a range of refreshments.

Alexandra Palace hosts a diverse calendar of events, encompassing major music concerts, theatrical productions, exhibitions, and sporting competitions like darts championships and ice hockey. It also accommodates community-focused activities, from book festivals to biodiversity training, reflecting its broad appeal and public service remit.
