St Mary the Virgin Church, a Grade I listed edifice, stands as a profound civic and cultural asset at the heart of Ashford. Its ancient stones, first referenced in the Domesday Book, have witnessed centuries of local life, evolving from a place of worship into a dynamic community hub. Today, it actively partners with Revelation Ashford, an Arts Trust, to host a diverse programme of concerts, performances, and significant civic gatherings, ensuring its continued relevance and accessibility for all.

Within its cruciform structure, the interior presents a compelling blend of historical gravitas and contemporary functionality. The substantial central tower, a testament to 15th-century craftsmanship, presides over a space thoughtfully re-ordered in recent years. One experiences the cool, smooth expanse of German limestone underfoot, complemented by a sophisticated lighting system that artfully illuminates the architectural details and adapts to various events.

Surrounding the church, a peaceful churchyard offers a tranquil outdoor space for reflection or informal gathering. Practical considerations are well-addressed, with comprehensive accessibility features including an accessible toilet, hearing loop, and large print materials. For events, a bar facility provides refreshments, often featuring local Kentish produce.
