Happy Days Fest is a music showcase for independent acts, described by the Goo as the place to go if you’d like to “catch a glimpse of the next wave of new wave.” Featuring meticulously picked acts in an intimate setting, giving you the feeling that you’re witnessing the next big thing before everyone else. After three years and several sold out editions, Happy Days Fest has now expanded to Belfast's Oh Yeah Centre, showcasing acts from Dublin and Belfast, serving as the spot to be to discover new talent.

Description

The Oh Yeah Music Centre stands as Northern Ireland's dedicated music hub, a vital asset in Belfast's cultural landscape since its establishment in 2007. It serves as a central point for the region's musical community, championing local talent and curating significant events such as the annual Sound of Belfast festival and the prestigious Northern Ireland Music Prize.

Within its 14,500 square feet across three floors, the atmosphere is one of focused creativity and relaxed engagement. The main performance space, with a capacity of up to 290, offers an intimate setting where the subtle movement of air around instruments can be keenly felt, contributing to a distinct sonic character. Comfortable seating areas, featuring sofas and armchairs, invite lingering conversations before and after events.

Practical considerations are well-addressed, ensuring broad access. The venue boasts a fully wheelchair-accessible entrance, with the main performance area, exhibition, and café all situated on the ground floor. A lift provides access to upper levels, and accessible toilet facilities are available. A fully licensed bar offers a selection of draft beers, alongside hot drinks and snacks.

The centre's calendar is consistently populated with a diverse array of activities, extending beyond live performances to include workshops, masterclasses, and artist development programmes spanning various genres. It also houses the permanent Northern Ireland Music Exhibition, offering a journey through the region's rich musical heritage.
