Inside, the venue retains an evocative grandeur, where the high ceilings and original architectural details speak to its ecclesiastical past. The air often carries the faint scent of aged wood and spilled ale, mingling with the anticipation of a performance. A warm glow from the stage lights illuminates the tiered seating and standing areas, creating an intimate yet expansive atmosphere for patrons.

Across its three distinct floors, the Empire offers multiple bars, ensuring refreshments are always at hand. A popular outdoor beer garden provides a relaxed space, complete with heating for cooler evenings. While food is served during specific hours, guests should note the venue's historic structure involves several sets of steps, and lift access is not available.

Throughout the week, the Empire hosts a diverse programme of events.
