On 5th July, Bask is taking over the Boiler Shop Mezzanine for a day of food, drinks, and dancing.
We’ll be serving the finest ingredients of the North East, using recipes from the Basque Country — bringing together two regions defined by exceptional produce from both land and sea.
The Basque Country is renowned for its soulful, ingredient-led cuisine. Here in the North East, our produce closely mirrors that same quality, and we look forward to pairing local ingredients with the techniques that have made Basque food so celebrated. Expect traditional pintxos, oysters, baked crab, whole grilled turbot and roasted vegetables, and of course, burnt Basque cheesecake to finish it off, all showcasing the very best flavours of the region.
Our team brings experience from some of the finest restaurants in the North East, including Hjem, Pine, St Vincent and Soku, with front of house from Mother Mercy and 21. We know how to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
Alongside the food, we’ll be pouring a selection of Basque wines, as well as our signature cocktails.
The soundtrack for the day will be provided by local curators Underground Sound. With a growing reputation across the local dance scene, they’ve proven time and again they know how to throw a party.
Please join us for either our first sitting at 2pm or our second sitting at 5pm. Guests are encouraged to stay on as we transition into the evening and after party.
Tickets are £85.00 each, plus booking fees.
We look forward to seeing you there.
This is not one to be missed.

The Boiler Shop stands as a significant cultural asset within Newcastle's regenerated Stephenson Quarter. This Grade II* listed building, once the pioneering Robert Stephenson & Co. Locomotive Works, has been thoughtfully repurposed to serve as a dynamic hub for arts, culture, and entertainment. It draws hundreds of thousands of guests annually, contributing substantially to the region's vibrant event landscape.
Within its historic walls, the venue retains a rugged charm, blending soaring brickwork and steel beams with modern production elements. The air often carries the faint scent of hops and a palpable hum of anticipation before an event. The industrial heritage is evident in the raw textures and expansive open spaces, creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and intimately connected to its past.
The Boiler Shop offers practical considerations for its patrons, including accessible facilities with step-free access to the ground floor and a lift to the mezzanine. Accessible toilets are available, and a raised viewing area can be arranged for those with specific needs. While there isn't a dedicated garden, the venue's bars are well-stocked, offering a range of local beers, spirits, and other beverages to complement any occasion.
The programming at Boiler Shop is broad, encompassing a diverse array of live music performances, club nights, and comedy. It also regularly hosts popular food and drink festivals, as well as markets showcasing local producers and artisans. This varied schedule ensures a continuous flow of cultural experiences for the city and beyond.
