About Tim Whitehead
Tim Whitehead is one of Britain?s most imaginative jazz saxophonists, renowned for his lyrical sound and fearless improvisation. A former member of the trailblazing big band Loose Tubes, he has released a string of acclaimed recordings, including Personal Standards, which was named Jazz Album of the Year by BBC Music Magazine. Over the years, he has worked with an array of jazz greats, including John Dankworth, Kenny Wheeler, Mike Westbrook, and Colin Towns, as well as performing with international artists across Europe and the US. In 2009, he was appointed Artist in Residence at Tate Britain, where he created music inspired by J. M. W. Turner?s paintings, later released as Colour Beginnings.
