Led by celebrated Scottish-American jazz vocalist Ali Affleck, The Traveling Janes is an international collective that featuring (mostly!) women bringing the joyful roots of jazz and blues back to life.
Featuring musicians from California, Texas, France, Singapore and Scotland the Janes bring the wild and irreverent sounds that fuelled the vaudeville tents and railroad tours of early 20th-century America, as well as some folk crossover from the America?s and British bushes
Led by celebrated Scottish-American jazz vocalist Ali Affleck, The Traveling Janes is an all-women international ensemble bringing the joyful roots of jazz and blues back to life. Formed in 2023, this unique band unites five award-winning musicians from four different countries?Scotland, the United States, Singapore, and Australia?to recreate the wild and irreverent sounds that fuelled the vaudeville tents and railroad tours of early 20th-century America.
Taking their name from the bold women who worked on America?s railroads and vaudevillian shows?the Janes celebrate the daring, freewheeling music that evolved in the bustling, sometimes raucous, heart of the American South as well as investigating related folk music from the same time period . Forget Gatsby glamour; this is the authentic story of America?s old-time popular music, a joyful and historically rich experience that brings 21st-century audiences the same exhilaration intended by its original creators.

Green Note was founded by two friends and passionate music lovers who wanted to create their ideal place to hang out in London...
Our dream was to create a place where we could share music that we loved – somewhere with a laid back, intimate and friendly atmosphere. Becoming friends in our school days, the seed for our idea was planted many years ago. After lots of hard work, many ups and downs, and learning more than we ever could have imagined along the way, our dream became a reality when Green Note opened its doors in the Summer of 2005. Now in our fourteenth year, we have established a reputation as one of London’s best spots for roots, world and acoustic music, and we’re constantly astonished by the wealth of incredible musicians who grace our stage. We’re really proud of what we have created, and happy to be able to share it with you.
