Description

Delighted to be hosting this London show with the mighty Self Torque - touring their upcoming debut album no less! - and the brilliant Jay Cavalier and the Band! The two are headed out on the road together for a killer weekender, and we're kicking it off in style at New River Studios.

Self Torque's debut album ?A Brutal Nadir? is set for release 30th January 2026 via Brighton indie Sugar-Free Records. The band emerged onto the Brighton DIY punk scene out of the ashes of various bands Gabriel had been a part of. The trio of musicians assembled for the project (completed by Luke Ellis on drums and Jay Cross on bass) are battle-hardened punk scene fixtures so it?s no surprise that Self Torque are already making a name for themselves with their supremely locked-in live shows.

Jay Cavalier and the Band (aka Jay Cavalier Band) are an England-based "bedroom stadium rock" group, comprised of the absolute best musicians that band leader Jay Cavalier could persuade. Musically they've been compared to Billy Bragg, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Petty. Project co-writer and self-appointed "scene legend" Nathy SG says JCB is "A welcome addition to the Nathan Stephens-Griffin Extended Universe".

FYI this show is 18+, and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Any questions about access please let us know at divineschism@gmail.com

Description

New River Studios stands as a vital cultural artery within North London's Harringay Warehouse District, operating as a not-for-profit arts centre and community interest company. It provides an accessible platform for local artists and creative businesses, offering shared facilities and a space for collaboration that extends beyond mere commerce. This converted furniture warehouse has cultivated a reputation as a significant hub for artistic expression and community engagement.

Inside, the venue retains an industrial charm, with exposed elements softened by the warmth of activity. The air often carries the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the lingering scent of performance, while the tactile experience of worn wooden surfaces and robust, repurposed furniture speaks to its history and practical ethos. It cultivates an atmosphere that is both grounded and creatively charged, a genuine reflection of its artistic purpose.

Practically, the venue features a well-stocked bar and café, serving a selection of craft beers, coffees, and casual fare like pizzas and vegan brownies. It also houses recording and rehearsal studios, supporting musicians and creatives. The space is designed with accessibility in mind, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

Throughout the year, New River Studios hosts a diverse calendar of events, ranging from live music performances and art exhibitions to workshops, educational programmes, and pop-up experiences. These gatherings draw a varied audience, reinforcing its role as a dynamic centre for cultural exchange and creative development within the local and wider London arts scene.
