Laura Wilkie and Ian Carr

Event Type

Genre : Music - Folk/blues/world

Description

Two leading figures in today’s contemporary traditional music world.

Eilidh Shaw is a Scottish fiddle player & singer from Taynuilt, Argyll. Her west highland fiddle style is beautifully wild and uniquely innovative. She has toured extensively with The Poozies and Harem Scarem
She recorded her acclaimed solo fiddle album, Heepirumbo in 1997 with Ian Carr
It is still lauded as a classic of its genre. Eilidh joined legendary Acid Croft pioneers Shooglenifty in 2018 to take the role of fiddler in the band after Angus R. Grant, who died in 2016. Shooglenifty continue to dazzle audiences at festivals and venues across the globe today.

There’s a fine line between musical genius and a vortex of chaos and Ian Carr has long danced along it like a reckless Highland dancer with his laces undone. fRoots’ Andy Cronshaw once described him as “the most innovative… and sympathetic guitarist that Britain has produced in years, in any genre…” Since the 1980s, Carr has been widely revered for forging his own path (and providing inspiration for others) in his own musical projects such as Swåp and Timber and as a collaborative musician with Kathryn Tickell, Kate Rusby, Eddi Reader, Kris Drever and others. A bold rhyth- mic innovator, a master of harmony, and diamond fingered melody maker, he’s a one-off.

Description

Green Note was founded by two friends and passionate music lovers who wanted to create their ideal place to hang out in London...

Our dream was to create a place where we could share music that we loved – somewhere with a laid back, intimate and friendly atmosphere. Becoming friends in our school days, the seed for our idea was planted many years ago. After lots of hard work, many ups and downs, and learning more than we ever could have imagined along the way, our dream became a reality when Green Note opened its doors in the Summer of 2005. Now in our fourteenth year, we have established a reputation as one of London’s best spots for roots, world and acoustic music, and we’re constantly astonished by the wealth of incredible musicians who grace our stage. We’re really proud of what we have created, and happy to be able to share it with you.
