A one off return to action for the Cardiff skiffle legends who took their washboard and tea chest driven mayhem around the world for over 30 years. A very special night is planned featuring music from the bands chequered history with former members jetting in to help tell the story of how a bunch of idiots with no ambition beyond busking up enough money for that nights beer and chips went from street to festival stage and back, several times. Plus special guests to be confirmed.
“Bloody good” Lonnie Donegan
“Really good and really skiffle” Mark Kermode.

The Gate Arts Centre, a Grade II listed former Presbyterian church in Cardiff's Roath area, stands as a significant cultural asset, fostering creativity and community engagement. This registered charity provides a diverse programme of arts and outreach, serving as a vital hub for local residents and a destination for wider audiences seeking enriching experiences.
Within its historic walls, the venue retains much of its original character, with the Grand Theatre featuring original wooden pews that offer a tangible connection to its past. The Dance Studio, too, incorporates the building's heritage, including the carved pulpit and ornate columns, creating a distinctive atmosphere. The air often carries the subtle scent of old stone and polished wood, blending with the murmur of conversation from the relaxed cafe bar.
Practical considerations are well-addressed, with the venue offering comprehensive accessibility, including ramped entrances, a lift, and accessible toilet facilities. While there is no dedicated garden space, the extensively stocked bar in the cafe provides refreshments for patrons.
Throughout the year, The Gate hosts a broad spectrum of events, from musical performances and theatrical productions to comedy nights, spoken word events, and visual arts exhibitions. It also facilitates various workshops and community initiatives, ensuring a dynamic and varied calendar of cultural offerings.
