Isaac Montagu is a London-based cellist, singer and dancer, whose playing reflects long and deep engagement with the traditional music of the communities that they have been immersed in. Isaac learnt their way on cello by watching English fiddle players in Hampshire folk sessions and dancing at French and Scandinavian folk dances. Isaac also grew up in the Sephardic Jewish community of London, an almost 400 year old religious community with its own particular musical heritage. Together these have built up a totally unique cello sound and repertoire ? attentive, playful, and expressive, informed equally by academic research as by their love of dancing. In a rare solo gig, Isaac will share an eclectic and personal mix of music from across these traditions.
Friendly pub with great atmosphere. Superb food and a good selection of wine and beer. Events in The Basement most nights and on the ground floor on Sundays.
