Description
This is the final tour by Tony Christie one of the great entertainers from the UK and will be the very last chance to see him perform in the West Country. Tony began his career in the 1960s, signing with MCA Records in 1969. His biggest successes include "I Did What I Did For Maria," "Las Vegas," and the theme for The Protectors, "Avenues and Alleyways".
During the 1970s, he sold over 10 million records, establishing himself as an elite performer, particularly in the UK and Europe and played the role of Magaldi on the original 1976 album recording of Evita (singing the solo song "On this Night of a Thousand Stars" and a duet with Julie Covington. Tony scored another Top 10 hit in the UK charts recording the Jarvis Cocker penned "Walk Like a Panther".
In 2005, a re-release of "(Is This the Way to) Amarillo" with comedian Peter Kay hit #1 in the UK for seven weeks. He has continued to record and tour, exploring country and folk genres, and was awarded the freedom of Amarillo, Texas. Despite being doanosed with dementia, Tony Christie's final tour has received rave reviews for his outstanding performances accross the UK.
