☆Carrie and The Coaxers☆
are a five-piece London-based band with powerful female vocals. Upbeat skanks play alongside punk and new wave influences, giving you music to make you think, feel AND dance.

Description
The Hope and Anchor on Upper Street stands as a cultural touchstone in Islington, its Grade II listed facade a familiar landmark since 1880. More than a mere public house, it has long served as a crucible for emerging talent, a vital artery in London's live music circuit, and a consistent gathering place for the local community. Its enduring presence underscores a commitment to fostering artistic expression and providing a consistent social anchor for generations of patrons.
Within its walls, the atmosphere carries the faint, resonant hum of countless past performances, a subtle olfactory note of aged timber and spilled ale that speaks to decades of shared experience. The main bar, with its arched windows and a considered arrangement of mixed tables and chairs, offers a comfortable setting for conversation, while the basement venue below pulses with a distinct energy, illuminated by a modern lighting rig that belies its historic foundations.
The venue offers a comprehensive selection of quality drinks, from classic lagers to contemporary cocktails, ensuring diverse palates are catered for. While the main pub area is welcoming, it is important to note that the historic nature of the building means the basement music venue and the upstairs Hope Theatre regrettably lack wheelchair access. An outdoor area provides a welcome respite during warmer months.
Throughout the week, the Hope and Anchor hosts a dynamic programme of events, primarily focusing on live music spanning various genres, from rock and punk to new wave and contemporary acts. Beyond the regular gig schedule, the venue also marks seasonal celebrations and provides a platform for open mic nights, ensuring a continuous flow of entertainment and community engagement.
