Description

With Dawne McFarlane and musicians Maryem Tollar and Sophia Grigoriadis

A 2-hour workshop with a half hour break. This workshop is for adult storytellers, musicians, dancers, theatre makers, educators, creatives. Please bring crayons or coloured pencils and a blank unlined notebook.

The ancient Greek myth Psyche and Eros is full of timeless wisdom that is relevant now. This interactive workshop invites you to step into moments of the story and explore their resonance.

Dawne will lead us in gentle movement, telling, writing and drawing exercises that you can continue to use in your creative practice. Maryem and Sophia will bring original and traditional music on ancient instruments, inviting our imaginations to soar beyond words into the past, present and future.

Stand with Psyche as she fears what will become of her, and wonder with her at the unexpected help that comes to her. We all know what it is to face impossible tasks in our individual lives and in our humanity. Have we forgotten how to attune to guidance from the natural world? Listen to the spirit of the river speaking to Psyche through the little green reed with a voice like music, and hear the voices of flowing water where you live in new ways. Perhaps you will hear the wild song of Pan and Echo.

Dawne, Maryem and Sophia are all experienced artists and educators who enjoy interweaving storytelling and music while staying true to their traditional art forms.
