SMASH HITS By Pettaluck - Album Release Show
Genre : Music - General
Smash Hits! Is a collection of cover versions arranged and performed by people who have never heard the original songs.
Armed only with the reviews these tracks received in Smash Hits magazine (included in the EPK), each song has been imaginatively recreated based on the descriptions alone. The songs, bands, notation and lyrics were all unresearched and what we are left with are the pictures the journalists conjured in Pettaluck's mind. This is her first studio release, following a string of self recorded DIY albums released on Wrieuw, TQ-Naut and Wormhole World respectively. The influence of producer Wayne Adams and live band member Sarah Anne Jardin plus a guest turn from Lee Ashcroft have somehow added even more mayhem to Pettaluck's multi genre, technicolour world, which this time embraces more guitar and electronics than usual while retaining the dark wit and earthy woodwinds of yore.
The album will be released as a physical magazine with download on September 17th.
We will also be releasing a podcast of the first time Emma and Sarah hear the original tracks and their discussion of how close they are to these versions!

The Fickle Pickle Club stands as a vital cultural artery within Westcliff-on-Sea, a venue with a storied past now vibrantly rekindled. Having once provided a stage for legendary figures before their widespread acclaim, it continues its legacy as a crucial platform for both established and emerging artists, cementing its place as a significant regional hub for live performance and community gathering.
Inside, the atmosphere is one of intimate warmth, where the low-lit space encourages connection between performer and audience. The air often carries the lingering scent of hops and anticipation, while the well-worn surfaces of the bar and seating areas speak to decades of shared experiences and memorable nights.
Located at 228 London Road, adjacent to the Cricketers pub, the club offers a focused bar service, providing a selection of beverages to complement the evening's entertainment. The deliberate absence of bar snacks contributes to a clean, uncluttered environment, allowing the focus to remain squarely on the performances.
Throughout the year, The Fickle Pickle Club curates a diverse programme, encompassing a broad spectrum of live music genres, alongside occasional intimate theatrical productions and private functions. It consistently provides a dynamic space for artists to hone their craft and for audiences to discover new sounds and experiences.
