Heavy Pop presents Trudy and the Romance | heavypop.co.uk
'Like a mesmerizing mix between The Libertines and Bruce Springsteen' - Dork
'Trudy and the Romance are dragging doo-wop into the present day' - Noisey
Previous **Are You Listening? Festival** guests Trudy and The Romance return to Reading!
The trio have a flair for dreamboat-pop with nods to Jonathan Richman, Louis Prima and Brian Wilson's wall of sound, it also takes influence from film composers Henry Mancini and Bernard Herrmann, and the golden age of Disney.
Their exhilarating live show ranges from hip-swinging rock'n'roll to show-stopping ballads, all delivered with a rag-tag punk ethos garnering stateside approval with acclaimed sets at this year's SXSW.
Recorded with producer David Pye (Wild Beasts), the debut album draws the listener further into the trio's vibrant world. Rocking and reeling through dreamy harmonies and dazzling guitars it's everything good pop music should be catchy, clever and brimming with curiously wonderful characters in Trudy's inimitable realistic-cartoon narrative.
BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, Annie Mac and 6 Music's Steve Lamacq count themselves amongst fans, as well as love coming on the US airwaves from KCRW's flagship Morning Becomes Eclectic show with Jason Bentley.
A band to bring a smile to your face.
We are a club based a short walk from town centre. We run gigs, rock night on a Friday and are open to bookings: birthday parties, gigs, club nights, etc.
