Annie Dressner
Since moving from her hometown of New York City to the UK seven years ago, singer-songwriter Annie Dressner has received considerable recognition from her live shows, as well as both her debut album, "Strangers Who Knew Each Other's Names" (2011), her EP "East Twenties" (April 2013). Dressner's second in-studio album with producer Nigel Stonier (Thea Gilmore) was released 26 October 2018. It has been receiving rave revues, such as Shire Folk calling it "one of the freshest and most enjoyable releases of the year."
Her songs have been played on Radio 2 and 6 music, among other local BBC radio stations and has been frequently played on the Caffe Nero playlist.
Dressner's songs are delivered with a such conversational ease, it often seems as if she is reading from an intimate letter or a book, set to music. Her straightforward lyrical style, sharp ear for wordplay and crisp, lilting vocals offer listeners a front row seat to her stories, as they take shape above the understated music. She has been compared to an up-tempo Mazzy Star 'Fade Into You,' or Jenny Lewis.
Luke James Williams
In November 2018, Cambridge based singer-songwriter Luke James Williams released his debut EP 'Drove'. The first single 'Rabbit Hole' has received airplay on BBC6 Music, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing whilst other cuts from the EP have been featured and played by Folk Radio UK and Hype Machine. Second single 'Still In Bed' has received huge support from BBC6 Music DJ Tom Robinson who recently chose it as his 6Music Recommends track which then saw it played by Tom Ravenscroft, Lauren Laverne and Steve Lamacq. Luke has received rave reviews for his engaging live performances and has supported artists such as Stu Larsen, The Little Unsaid and Megson. Broadly categorised as alt.folk and drawing influences from the likes of Sufjan Stevens and PJ
Honey & The Bear
British folk and roots duo, Honey & the Bear, combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with emotive and evocative songwriting. With a diverse range of sounds and textures, and rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads, their live performances are spirited and dynamic. Conjuring stories in song, they tell tales of Suffolk folklore, courage, passion and heartbreak. The multi instrumentalist pair, comprised of songwriters Jon Hart (guitar, bass, bazouki) and Lucy Hart (guitar, ukulele, bass, banjo, mandolin & percussion), have been writing and performing together since early 2014, having met at a songwriting event two years previous. Since then, they have played at many revered venues and festivals across the UK as well as travelled across the channel for their first European tour. 2019 sees the release of their first full studio album 'Made In The Aker' with a UK tour to follow in October.
