The first major concert of the school year will be feature an exciting mix of music, ranging from the Baroque period to music from the 2017 American hit film, The Greatest Showman. The Chamber Choir's two choral works will contrast the lyrical lines of Purcell's Hear my prayer, O Lord with the declamatory Hymn to St Cecilia by Britten. Form 7 oboist, Emilia Hubbard will perform Italian composer, Bellini's only surviving concerto, the Oboe Concerto in E flat major, as a contrast to effervescent orchestral classics by Rossini and Malcolm Arnold. Ravel's Boléro, performed by the ever-popular Concert Band is bound to capture the audience's attention with its infamous melodies alongside the precise rhythmic percussion.
