History Of Spitalfields Walking Tour Event Title Pic

Description

Come with me on the History of Spitalfields walking tour as we walk in the footsteps of Charles Dickens, Queen Elizabeth the first and Jack the Ripper.

We'll discover the Roman and medieval origins of the area and along the way we'll see the origins of some Charles Dickens' characters, evidence of the Hugenot, Irish and Jewish people who lived there.

I should stress this isn't a Jack the Ripper tour but we'll see some of the locations of his victims as well as some other famous people of their time.

We do this walk in the morning so that once you've finished, if you've still got the energy, you can have a wander around the indoor Spitalfields market or Brick Lane market on Sunday's.

The walk will take about 2.5 hours at a very leisurely pace.

Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and check the weather forecast.

As there are no public toilets along the route you may want to use the ones in Liverpool Street Station beforehand which are 30p entry fee.
