Event Type

Genre : Music - General

Description

http://bit.shifter.net

Based in New York City, Bit Shifter explores high-impact, low-res music produced using primitive synthesis as a deliberate aesthetic choice. In a distillation of the less-is-more philosophy, Bit Shifter operates with a standard Nintendo Game Boy as a means of exploring the aesthetics of economy, pushing minimal hardware to its maximum.

Bit Shifter, real name Joshua Davis, has been among those leading the charge in the global underground movement known as chipmusic. When not helping run the 8bitpeoples record label or the international Blip Festival event series, Bit Shifter has released music on Astralwerks, Hymen, Mirex, and 555 Recordings, and has been fortunate enough to perform around the world.

Bit Shifter's latest album, Closed System Blues, is out now.
