Live From The Curates Egg #5

Event Type

Genre : Music - General

Description

The fifth instalment of a monthly residency live from the basement of London's premier 3 storey victorian public house, The Betsy Trotwood. Your host Stephen Evens has curated for you variety of musical and artistic delights to fill every last Sunday of the month that he is in residence.

KATE ARNOLD - Hammered dulcimer, violin, vocals and darkness.
Kate Arnold some of you may know from her band Fear Of The Forest. Ethereal, yet unworldly soundscapes supporting a mixture of original songs, sea shanties, reworked folk songs and subjects matter including her now families bizarre life history as Kidiminster carpet weavers. My description does it no justice. Just make sure you are prepared to be spellbound.

PHILLIP RAMBOW
Originally from Montreal Canada, singer-songwriter Philip Rambow has spent a lifetime writing and performing his own take on classic folk/rock themes. From his original UK band The Winkies which influenced The Clash, to his collaborations with Kirsty MacColl, Brian Eno, Mick Ronson, Ellen Foley, Philip's carreer has been an eclectic and exciting musical journey. His new album "Whatever Happened to Phil Rambow?" reflects today's issues, in a unique and personal way.

BIRD SUPERIOR
Bird Superior is the new pseudonym for Malcolm Doherty (Gokart Mozart/Great Electric) expect surreal beat poetry.

STEPHEN EVENS CASIOTONE DEMONSTRATION
Stephen Evens goes it alone today and opens proceedings in hi own unique style i.e. taking an antiquated calculator with an organ sound it it and trying to make an "act" of some description. Oh well, let him have his fun. He's first on so...y'know, there's a bar upstair.

He shall play selections from Bonjour Poulet, the forthcoming album Employee Of The Month as well as selections from yet unreleased albums Here Come The Lights and Weekend At Bernie's 2....yes, really Weekend At Bernie's 2...sounds er...
